Think for yourself

you brave, loving soul

stand tall and poised

step away from beliefs

that are ancient ones

that hold people down

in iron and chains

stereotypes of all kinds

that only suppress and hurt

decide for yourself here

whether you believe

in decrepit, decaying views

that only hurt all of us

not just the one berated

not just the one punched

and kicked to the ground

let go of ancient beliefs

slapped across your face

and look deeply into eyes

the eyes of your fellow man

and decide for yourself

if cruelty will be your legacy
