I Woke Up One Morning
By Sharon Lea
I woke up one morning
knowing who I was
without reservations
without apologies
without second guessing
without building walls
without convincing others
without caring to convince
without stepping aside
without standing behind
without feeling less than
without doubting my abilities
without worrying so much
without fearing the future
without stopping to rethink
without prefacing everything
without fearing abandonment
without doubting my feelings
without apologizing for feelings
without feeling feelings are wrong
without retracing my steps
without worrying about the past
without changing my mind
I woke up one morning
knowing who I was
and it felt pretty damn good
