Hummingbirds Hanging Out
By Sharon Lea
Hummingbirds like to hang out
by the red bird feeder
like kids on the street corner
sipping sweet nectar
they hover so playfully there
darting sideways and back again
playing in the noon day sun
having lunch in the spring breeze
Hummingbirds like to hang out
snacking on pieces of fruit
maybe a juicy insect for dessert
enjoying every moment they spend
playing tag and hide and go seek
sometimes fighting for that spot
a place that they can call their own
hovering for a few moments
Humming birds like to hang out
as they sip their nectar so gracefully
and yet float with unbridled energy
dancing through life on beautiful wings
