Everything In Between

Life is a series of ups and downs
from one side to the other it seems
no matter day or month or even year
to a place that comes together naturally
somewhere in the middle of it all
there is a peacefulness and beauty
where a shady tree brings warmth
where darkness meets sun light
and flowers bloom in a rainstorm
where pain meets sheer ecstatic joy
and you cry tears of happiness
where hopelessness meets optimism
and a rainbow colors the showers
where sickness meets good health
and even with one leg you feel whole
where loss of love meets true love
and a wedding day for five is enough
where birth meets losing a loved one
and you realize pain brings maturity
where being serious meets being silly
and you laugh when you are nervous
somewhere in the middle of it all is you
the combination of all that you are now
of everything you see in your mind's eye
who you were and how you have grown
simply knowing that the sky is the limit
clouds are trampolines and cotton candy
and everything in between is being human
