An Autumn Song

By Sharon Lea

As the days grow quietly shorter
Leaves become beautiful birds
Autumn sings gently in the air
Notes unlike anything I've heard

A sweet melody fills the dewy mist
My sweater takes away the chill
The colors fill my hopeful heart
Nature sounds come from the hill

I sit peacefully on my wooden porch
Gold and red shimmer in the tree
No better song could be written
Seems God wrote it just for me

There is a peace that always comes
When colorful mist feels like spring
It too is like the flowers rebirth
Except Fall brings leaves that sing

As the days grow quietly shorter
Autumn sings it's magical score
Until the leaves start to shake
And winter rains begin to pour
